Whatcha Reading? (76)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and I will share my brief thoughts on books that I read during the previous week.

December 4th - 10th:

TBQ:

-- Glass Tidings by Amy Jo Cousins --

Cute holiday story, if a bit predictable and very light on conflict/issue. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing; I liked it, but definitely not my favorite from AJC. My favorite part has to be when Eddie and Grayson would spend the evening in front of the fire reading. :) 3 1/2 Stars

-- The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean -- [Audiobook, Library]

I really enjoyed this one. There's a bit of a road trip going on, and a fake relationship, before they get their HEA. King does some decent groveling in the end, and I loved that Sophie got her bookstore in th end. *grumbles* Damn lucky lady. There was some great tension between these two, plus MacLean's lovely writing style, of course. I look forward to continuing this series. Narration: Great, definitely recommend MacLean's on audio. 4 Stars

Favorite quote:

“Why books?”

Her brows rose. “I beg your pardon?”

“Why are they your vice?”

She set her plate down and wiped her hand on her skirts before reaching for the top volume on a stack of small, leather bound books nearby and extending it to him. “Go on.”

He took it. “Now what?”

“Smell it.” He tilted his head. She couldn’t help but smile. “Do it.”

He lifted it to his nose. Inhaled.

“Not like that,” she said. “Really give it a smell.”

He raised one brow but did as he was told.

“What do you smell?” Sophie asked.

“Leather and ink?”

She shook her head. “Happiness. That’s what books smells like. Happiness. That’s why I always wanted to have a book shop. What better life than to trade in happiness?”

-- Wrapped Together by Annabeth Albert --

Absolutely adored this one, and you can read my full review HERE. If you need a hot but charming holiday novella, here you go! 4 1/2 Stars

Favorite quote:

"I love you, Hollis.”

He said it so easily, so confidently, that I inhaled sharply, oxygen in short supply. “You do? But why? I’m the introverted asshole, remember?” My voice was far shakier than I would have liked.

“Yeah, but you’re my introvert. And you’re not an asshole. See, that’s what I’ve been thinking about a lot—why you make me so crazy. And I think it’s because you’re always so . . . selective. You’re choosy about your clothes and your books and your pens and your food. And for years now, I’ve just wanted you to choose me.”

“I do,” I managed to choke out.
