[Let's Talk]: Reviewing Moods + What Do You Want?

The holidays are over and 2017 is finally here. I don't know about you all, but I'm exhausted. For a number of reasons.

Anyway, I had planned on having Part 3 of the Romance Survey Results up today but I didn't finish it in time. It should be up Thursday, so check back then!

I was also supposed to have an ARC review up today but . . .  yeah, that didn't work out, either. And it's not because of -- or at least not ENTIRELY because of -- how busy things were for me these last few weeks. It's partly because I'm just not feeling the reviewing mojo for the book.

Don't get me wrong: I loved the book in question -- Off Base by Annabeth Albert -- and it'll still be going into January's giveaway! I adored it, giving it 4.5 stars.

But for some reason, my mind is just not in the right mood or place to review it. Truly, it's not the book that's holding me back, it's just me. You'll just have to take my word that the book is fantastic and I highly recommend it, okay?

Maybe my review style is getting stale. Is there something you'd prefer to see me do with my reviews? If you have an idea, let me know below!

Since I didn't finish the one post and can't seem to write a review, how about a little chat instead?

Reviews are for readers. This is something that not everyone understands, unfortunately, so I'll repeat it here again. Reviews are NOT for authors or publishers. Their purpose is to tell potential readers whether they want to try the book or not. They can be promotional, in a way, but they are not written to or for the author/publisher. Ever.

Here's my question to you then: What do you like to see in a review? What makes a review helpful for you?

And if you write reviews, have you ever hit a "I loved the book but somehow have nothing to say, shit" roadblock like I'm currently experiencing? If so, what did you do?

Oh! One more question, if you wish to answer it: What would you like to see on the blog this year? I'm open to your suggestions and comments!

I hope you all had a lovely holiday and I also hope that 2017 is good to you -- be it books or life in general!

Enjoy!
