Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently reading, or just finished, and I will share my brief thoughts on books that I read during the previous week.
Now in the form of a podcast. AKA, me rambling about the books in your ear. :)

Still no podcast. My voice is back, but I still sound like shit and this congestion is just hanging around and around and around. I won't torture you all with that in a podcast! I hope to be back next week though. :)

Read:
Zero Hour by Megan Erickson
Releases 01/30
4 Stars
Good start to a new series. I had a few minor issues, but nothing huge. Slow burn, but when they finally hook up, it's hot AF. Very much looking forward to the rest of the series because all the characters introduced? Loved them.

Roar by Cora Carmack

YA!

Really interesting new world (storm magic), enjoyed this story and even the (YA) romance subplot. Narrator was good, too. Sadly now I have to wait for book 2!

Royal Ruin by Jessica Peterson
Dual 1st POV
2 Stars
My biggest issue is when the hero and heroine first hook up, she's STILL in a long-distance relationship with someone else. Yes, the BF just cheated on her but they have NOT broken up, and in fact the moment after the hero comes, her phone rings -- it's the BF! She jumps up to talk to him, and the two don't see each other again for 10 years. That is NOT okay and it left a sour taste in my mouth the rest of the story.
The story/plot was a bit shallow and not as developed as I wanted. I had some issues with a few things, like slut-shaming and also the hero's dick reaction in the last few pages (and he did NOT learn from or grovel for it, either).
Honestly, the best part was the sex, which was SUPER hot. But as much as I loved that, it's just not enough to save the rest of the book. Might still read the rest of the series, but I'm not in a big hurry.

Her Hometown Girl by Lorelie Brown
Dual 1st POV
4 Stars
TW: Abusive/manipulative ex; rape/sexual assault from a partner
Really enjoyed this. It covers a bit of a heavy subject, though Brown does it well, but it's also super sweet and adorable seeing these two women fall for each other. Some mild kink, especially in the form of "Daddy play". There is an actual age gap, too.
