Romancelandia News:
- Rebekah Weatherspoon signed with Kensington for a western romance set on a "black-owned luxury dude ranch" and I CANNOT WAIT
I could get into all the HEA or GTFO convos that kept coming up on Twitter this week. Or even all the harmful fatphobic BS from Higgins' newest book and all the readers/authors jumping to defend it while ignoring those who were seriously hurt by it.
But why bother? No, seriously, why bother trying to recap all that shit? I wouldn't even know where to begin linking, there was just so much, all over the place. And frankly, I'm tired.
But I will link to a fun moment on Twitter this week: I posted a Sex Scene Logistics (book is listed later in this post, btw) and it lead to some fun discussions, a naughty GIF (or twenty) and some very real conversations about sex positions. That is what I love about Romance Twitter. Sure it has its moments of WTF (and not the funny kind -- see above Higgins book, etc), but for hte most part Romance Twitter is entertaining and awesome.
I've been dealing with two different fires in my county this week -- I'm safe! They're miles from us and chances of us being in danger are slim at this point. But the anxiety about What If is definitely there 24/7, and the smoke is a bitch and a half. :(
On top of that, I've had some . . . family drama and just stress from caring for my grandfather. Needless to say, I didn't get much reading done because of lack of time and ability to actually concentrate on a book, any book.
I did manage to finish 3, 4 by the time you're reading this. So, let's get into it, shall we?

What I Read:
Shadow's Claim by Kresley Cole
Narrated by Robert Petkof3 Stars
✦ Fated mates + alpha hero
✦ Demon / sorceress soon-to-be Queen
✦ Vampire, assassin
✦ Tournament for her hand
✦ I just didn’t care much about this one. Love the series otherwise
✦ Narrator is A+++ as always
Second Chance by Jay Northcote
4 Stars✦ 45yo MCs
✦ Trans hero returns to town w/ his teenage daughter
✦ Falls for his HS friend/crush (who is dealing with depression and alcoholism)
✦ Set in England
✦ Pretty low angst, a bit more easy and fluffy (mostly) -- which is not a bad thing!
✦ Really quite hot tho. I mean, REALLY hot. A++ on that
✦ Definitely going to read more from Northcote!

Undercover Attraction by Katee Robert
Narrated by Charlotte North3 1/2 Stars
✦ Mob boss (well, he's the oldest son of one but currently running everything himself)
✦ Former cop who was framed as a dirty cop (she wasn’t)
✦ Fake fiancĂ©e (in order to get revenge on someone else...though that doesn't work out because he'll be the hero in the next book...)
✦ Knees + chair = Sex Scene Logistics
✦ Not my favorite in the series and I can’t even explain why. It was just . . . nice but kinda forgettable. *shrugs*
