[Kame's Review]: "How to Marry a Cowboy"

How to Marry a Cowboy by
Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca (July 1, 2014)
Series: Cowboys and Brides, 4
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Rancher Mason Harper’s two little girls want nothing more than a mama of their own. So when a pretty woman appears on his front porch in a tattered wedding dress, while Mason’s looking for a nanny, he can’t help but wonder if it’s fate.

Annie Rose Boudreaux is in a downright hellish mess. She’s just a few steps ahead of the low-life ex who’s been hot on her heels, but she’s tired of running, and nannying Mason’s two sweet girls may be just what she needs. As her days on the ranch fly by, and the night’s with Mason get hotter, Annie Rose decides that she’s going to stay…for a lifetime.

Kame's Review:

Annie Rose needed to rest just for a few minutes. She opens her eyes later to see four eyes staring at her. Two of the cutest blond eyed little girls are convinced their Daddy had made their birthday dreams come true and found them a new Mamma.  They have all the evidence they need; it is their birthday and Annie Rose is wearing a wedding dress.

Annie Rose is a typical Carolyn Brown heroine. She knows her own mind and she doesn't shy away from hard work. I enjoyed the loving relationship between Annie Rose and the twins. It is key to Mason falling in love with her. Mason is a classic young cowboy widower. He loves his ranch, but loves his girls more; to the point where they were able to run a little wild. The sparks between Annie Rose and Mason were believable but the most believable where the sparks that were not loving in nature. The few times they butted heads brought reality to their relationship.

The plot of this book was simple and the challenges to the couple finding love were well not that challenging; however I am one who thoroughly enjoys a good cowboy story - straight love story or a little challenged mixed in. The girls were just as entertaining as Mason and Annie Rose.  I enjoyed all the contemporary country music mentions and I wonder if the special place the girls go for their birthday present is one Carolyn Brown has actually visited.

This is the last in the series; which makes me sad. It will not be the last Carolyn Brown book I will read. There are plenty I haven't discovered and new ones planned. If it has a cowboy and Carolyn Brown wrote it - I will read it - a one click buy!

4 1/2 STARS!

Have you read Carolyn Brown? Do you have a favorite book of hers? Can you resist a sexy cowboy romance?

  1. Can't wait to read this! Love this series & all of Carolyn's books! Have you read the Spikes and Spurs series? Excellent. And the new women's lit books - Blue -Ribbon Jalepeno Society Jubilee & The Red-Hot Chili Cook-Off.

  2. I felt the same way, Kame. I thought the girls were a hoot and I loved the low-key romance that was humorous and heartwarming. Sad to see it end too, but did you notice there will be a spin-off series for some of the secondary cowboys mentioned in an earlier book? Looking forward to that.
