[Pat's Review]: "Once Upon a Dare"

Once Upon a Dare by Jennifer Bonds
Publisher: Entangled: Brazen (April 7, 2015)
Series: Risky Business, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Advertising guru Olivia Masterson is all work and no play. But on the eve of earning her dream promotion, her best friend dares her to drop her ice queen fa├žade for one night and seduce a sexy stranger. Olivia’s worked her ass off to get where she is—why the hell not?

Cole Bennett never thought he’d run into his feisty one-night stand at the office, furious that he stole her promotion. No matter how hard she tries to ice him out, they can’t seem to keep their hands to themselves…or their clothes on.

Olivia's talented—maybe even more than Cole—so when his dropped hints to the boss net her a promotion of her own, he’s ready to celebrate...until she accuses him of fueling office rumors that she slept her way to the top. She wants to earn her own way? Fine. So what the hell does a guy have to do to permanently melt an ice queen?

Pat's Review:

Olivia Masterson and her best friend Chloe are unwinding over a drink at a trendy bar called Olive and Twist.  Chloe is bemoaning Olivia's lack of sex life and her Ice Queen reputation. Growing up a pageant princess, Olivia wants to earn respect for more than a pretty face. She was anticipating a promotion she had worked very hard for and knew she deserved. She takes a dare from Chloe and starts a conversation with a very handsome businessman she felt sparks for the second she saw him. By the look in his eyes he felt the same. Cole Bennett and Olivia Masterson have an amazing night of off the charts sex.  In the morning, Olivia sneaks away to avoid the uncomfortable morning after. When Cole discovers her gone all he can think of was he didn't get her number.

Olivia strolls into the boss's office excited and frightened at the same time. Suddenly she realizes someone else is in the room and to her horror, it's Cole Bennett and he is the new partner. Anger and humiliation battle inside her so hard, she can barely be polite. Cole is equally as surprised, but somehow excited about them working together. What follows is a sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking give and take between the two. They are both wildly attracted to each other, but Olivia doesn't want the appearance of "sleeping her way to the top." After a few difficult exchanges, Cole realizes she deserved the partner job and should have received the promotion.  He respects her amazing work and he wants more than a casual relationship.

This story is fun with plenty of heat and sex, in lots of places besides a bed.  Olivia realizes that she wants more in life than a promotion and is going to do what it takes to get it. Cole begins to understand he has spent a lot of time with his foot in his mouth.

If your looking for an entertaining one night stand that turns into a blistering romance this is the book to read.
