[Pat's Review]: "Love So Irresistible"

Love So Irresistible by Marquita Valentine
Publisher: Valentine Publishing, LLC (April 14, 2015)
Series: The Lawson Brothers, 3
Genre: Contemporary Romance

All former Navy SEAL Mason Lawson craves is solitude. Unfortunately, his new neighbor won’t allow him the peace he so desperately needs. Between the traffic and the music, Mason is constantly on edge—not exactly what the doctor ordered for someone recovering from a bullet to the leg. However, when he finally has enough and confronts his neighbor, nothing can prepare him for how hot he’d get for the teacher next door.

Piano teacher, Skylar Jernigan, loves everything about the town of Jessamine—from the quaint Main Street shops to the people who own them. Unfortunately, once she’s chewed up and spit out by her sexy neighbor, Skylar begins to question her decision to move to a new town. Until, that is, she learns he’s suffering from a war wound and refuses to have anything to do with his family.

Now, Skylar is determined to help Mason recover—mentally, physically and socially—until he turns the tables and sets out to seduce Skylar right out of her meddling ways. Only seduction turns into something more and soon, Mason can’t stop looking for excuses to be with her. But when the Navy wants Mason to reenlist for a dangerous mission, will Skylar be too irresistible for him to leave?

Pat's Review:

Mason Lawson is a former SEAL, severely wounded and very angry. Angry he is alive and his fellow SEAL's are not, angry that he's in severe pain, angry his family is interfering in his fall to the bottom of a bottle. Add a new neighbor who has the nerve to teach music to local children in her home, making irritatingly loud noise and he's becoming undone. The only beating heart he can tolerate around him is his therapy dog Bomber. He is constantly by Mason's side, not lecturing or feeling sorry for him.

Skylar Jernigan was raised in the Carnie with her Dad. Her mother left when she was a child, and they moved constantly. Her Dad finally found a job with a paper mill, and they set down roots. But her Dad succumbed to one of the poisonous chemicals they used, and Skylar was on her own. She wandered for a while, then moved to Jessamine, bought a house and set down roots. She supported herself by teaching music and being a substitute teacher at the local school. Life seemed pretty normal until she finally met the "grumpy old man" next door. It was not a pleasant meeting, but after hearing Mason's story her natural instincts to help kicked in. Despite his constant complaining and bickering.

There is a beautiful love story in this book, the build up only makes it sweeter. Before Mason realizes it, he needs Skylar more than he needs to breathe. The banter and quips between these two are hysterical and I found myself really falling for Mason. Skylar becomes friends with one of the McCoy sisters, Lemon, and even takes a road trip to Holland Springs.  The one thing Mason can't push from his mind is his life as a SEAL and he feels he is a danger to Skylar. He turns away, but knows it will destroy him.  The epilogue......sigh...... is perfect. If your a fan of Ms. Valentine's books, you will love this visit with the Lawson brothers. If your not, what are you waiting for?  Grab this book.
