Pat's Review:

Lucy O'Brien grew up in Dare Valley, but always had dreams of somewhere else. She's a photojournalist with a long list of events, places and faces around the world.
She's coming home to rest and recuperate from a tragedy she encountered in a village in Kenya. She survived a bomb blast with severe injuries, most healing now except the most devastating one. She has lost vision in her right eye, her dominant eye, and there is only a wait and see treatment. Will she be able to compensate with her good eye when taking photos, will some of the color return to her vision, all frightening questions waiting for an answer. She has kept the injury a secret from all, including her parents. She needs time to absorb it, she knows her mother will not let her out of her sight when she finds out. Lucy is greeted by a surprise welcome home with all her family and friends. Her best friend Andy Hale, now a physician, takes her for a walk after observing her at the party. He knows something is wrong....can she share?

Andy Hale and Lucy grew up as best friends since kindergarten. Their mom's were also best friends so they were always together. In high school Andy was attracted to her, but never let her know. Lucy knew she wanted to travel and see the world, Andy wanted to raise a family and stay in Dare Valley. They each went their way, Andy finished medical school, fell in love, married and they had a child. Tragically his wife Kim died of breast cancer, he was broken and full of despair, but had a sweet boy, Daniel to raise. It's been two years and he's feeling more like himself. Seeing Lucy brings back lots of memories he has kept frozen inside. Andy wants to help her, protect her and maybe let the feelings he has stirring free.

This is a beautiful friends to lovers story that will make you laugh, cry and cheer. There's a calendar that needs to be photographed, definitely not a typical one of course. I laughed out loud.

This novel can be read as a stand alone, but the previous in the series are equally as entertaining and worth the read.

4 STARS!
