Interview: C.L. Parks + Giveaway [US + INT]!

It's Paranormal Week here at TBQ's Book Palace as part of my 4 year blogoversary celebration!

And don't forget to stop by to enter my Week 2 giveaway for the event!

I'm more than happy to introduce readers to new authors--even when the author in question is new to me! :) And so I'm happy to introduce to you today Christy (CL Parks), author of the UF book, She Who Hunts. I hope you enjoy!

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
CL Parks is a paranormal romance, and urban fantasy author. In her free time she stays busy caring for the variety of creatures at her country home including chickens, dogs, a cat, four reptiles...oh, and three kids.

When not tending to animals or plugging away at her newest story, CL and her three children enjoy attending her husband's 80's cover band shows.

Where to Find Christy:

The_Book_Queen: Hi Christy! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Christy: Because I have such an awesome husband I’m able to stay home and write…well, when the two and four-legged kids allow me to. We have a small zoo in our home including an English Mastiff, an Akita mix, two cats, four chickens, one strange rooster (he actually likes me), and a rather spoiled Iguana. When I’m not tending to them, or reading or writing, the kids and I love to go to my husband’s band shows.

TBQ: What made you decide to start writing?
C: I never really know how to answer this one. Ever since I read Charlotte’s Web I’ve always rewrote the books to end the way I wanted. I did not want Charlotte to die; that was before I became arachnophobic. I can’t not write!

TBQ: Your newest release, She Who Hunts, is out now. Can you tell us a little bit about this book, and why readers are going to love it?
C: In Tenna’s world, humans become possessed by demons, but there’s no such thing as exorcisms. The only way to kill the demon and release the human is by killing the host. Unfortunately for Tenna, she’s faced with the fact she either has to kill her husband to release him from the demon, or allow him to continue murdering innocent people.

TBQ: Are there other genres you would like to write about?
C: I’ve dabbled a little in paranomormal romance, but my idea of romance is way different than most. I wanted to give my husband a vial of my blood for our first wedding anniversary, kind of like Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob, but he said that was too weird. I’ve also become interested in YA lately, because my young teen kids are dying to read something their mom wrote.

TBQ: I know we all hate this question, author and reader alike. :) But I have to ask: What are a few of your favorite books and/or authors?
C:This is actually an easy one for me. But, I have such a long list, I usually have to cut it down. I love Rachel Vincent’s Shifter series, anything by Stephen King, Jeaniene Frost, Katie Salidas, and I recently read a book called Black Smoke by Robin Leigh Miller that I loved. And, I have a confession…I’m a Twihard. I’ve read all four books about five times each and own the first four movies. Hey, it’s my guilty pleasure. [ :) I think it's a guilty pleasure for many; I'll admit, I was a Twihard. I'm not as big a fan now, but I still like it!]

TBQ: What do you look for in a good book—characters, story, cover...?
C: I need to fall in love with the characters and actually care what happens to them. A book that can make me anxious to find out what will happen next is the best. When I put it down, I want to be able to obsess over what’s next. The story has to be dynamic enough for me to believe in the actions, and read through my fingers, or sigh at the romantic parts. [Well said, I have to agree with you! :)]
TBQ: What's next-- Can you tell us a little bit about your upcoming releases or WIP?
C: I’m currently working on the second book in Tenna’s story. This book will contain more back story about Tenna and the Hunters as a whole. Hopefully, I’ll have it completed before the end of summer, but we all know how book writing goes, especially with the kids home on summer break.

SPEED ROUND:

A day on a secluded island OR a day at the spa?Secluded island with a stack of books! [Yes!]

Reading a spicy romance novel OR a sweet “my-heart-skips-a-beat” one?Definitely spicy romance!

Which would you rather have an affair with: a sexy highlander OR a devilishly handsome English lord?Ooooh, I think I’ll go the sexy highlander! Yum! [Indeed!]

Hot summer days OR cold winter nights?Hot summer days! I hate clothes and I hate shoes. The less I have to wear the better.

Where would your dream house be: in the city, where all the action is OR nestled in the mountain where you can enjoy the quiet and the wilderness?
Nestled away somewhere quiet. I currently live in the country, and I’d love it to be even more isolated, where I wouldn’t be able to hear cars and could have a working ranch. No, I’m not a farmer. *laughs*

If you could live in any time period, past or future, which one would it be?I always thought I would like to live in the 50s, but I can’t imagine the people accepting someone as strange as I am.

Cover Lover OR Blurb Fan?Cover lover! I tend to skip over the blurbs!

Steamy Novella OR Sweet Novel? (aka, Quickie or Slow Build Up?)STEAMY! I’m not a generally sweet person, so I tend to get toothaches when I read something too sweet and sappy.

And finally, tell us 3 unique/wacky/fun things about yourself:My nickname is the Lizard Lady, and my niece and nephews call me Sucka.

I have a bathtub phobia (don’t even know if there’s a technical term for it). I can’t even stand the thought of my skin touching the bathtub, and I shower on my toes.

Believe it or not, I can actually sew. I love when people who know me from my husband’s band find out I’m actually quite domestic. Just because I like things that go bump in the night doesn’t mean I can’t make a mean peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
BTW, For anyone interested in a copy of She Who Hunts, it’s currently set at a value price of $1.99 while we wait for Barnes & Noble and the other venues to stock it on their shelves.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Christy, and please know that you are welcome back anytime! Do you have any questions for our readers—something to spark a good discussion? :)

She Who Hunts by C.L. Parks
Genre: UF

Tenna Massey’s husband is possessed, and may be the one responsible for the string of murders in her community. Only a demon Hunter can stop him, and unfortunately for Tenna, she comes from a long line of them, a legacy she ran away from years ago.

If Tenna chooses to become the Hunter she was destined to be, it will mean stepping back into the world she thought she'd left behind for good. Worse, it will mean killing the man she's loved for so long. But if she doesn't, the murders won't stop.

The longer she puts off her decision, the more innocent lives are in danger, and the more Tenna realizes she can't run forever.

Oh, and I don't think I could kill a person I loved even if they were possessed. I think I would just have to try to contain them.

What an incredibly hard question! I'm mulling here LOL First off I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to meet C.L. Parks and read a little of her journey. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us today and for this awesome giveaway opportunity. I personally love the blurbs and the covers - they will both affect my going over the fence to acquire the read or leaving it in the wait and see corner :)
Now if I knew for certain the possession or takeover had occurred and my loved one was no longer there, this might be an option, but first I would have to wrangle with the overtaker and get out my demon hunting gear and fight the evil itself. You see I have just enough hope that I would face this challenge without having to harm my loved one and still save their soul :)
I live in the US and absolutely love ebooks and should my number come up I just love to read and it would not matter to me whether it is electronic or paper.

YAY! Another book for the wish list. Cant wait to be ablet to get it.

If it came down to it I don't think I would have a problem. I would be able to see that they weren't in control of thier own body and would be able to do it. I couldn't stand knowing that my loved one's soul wasn't free.
