[Kame's Review]: "Motorcycle Man"

Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley
Publisher: Forever (December 11, 2012)
Series: Dream Man, 4
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Stuck in a colorless world, Tyra Masters decides to chuck her old life and starts searching for something. She doesn’t know what it is until she meets her dream man. The goateed, tattooed, muscled, gravelly voiced motorcycle man who plies her with tequila and gives her the best sex of her life. But she knows it isn’t the tequila and sex talking. He’s it. He’s who she’s been daydreaming about since she could remember.

Until he makes it clear she isn’t who he’s looking for.

Tyra slinks away from his bed, humiliated. The problem is, he’s her new boss. She just may or may not have forgotten to tell him that part.

Kane “Tack” Allen has a rule. He doesn’t employ someone he’s slept with. And he lets Tyra know that in his motorcycle man way. Tyra fights for her job and wins it using sass and a technicality. Tack challenges her that if she hits his bed one more time, she loses her job.

Tyra is determined to keep her job and keep away from Tack. But she makes a big mistake. During their head-to-heads, she lets it all hang out and shows Tack she is who he’s looking for. And Tack has had a good woman slip through his fingers, he’s not about to let that happen again.

Although Tack colors Tyra’s world with a vibrancy that’s blinding, being with him means she has to live in his Motorcycle Club world. Full on, no holds barred. And since Tack’s world, not to mention Tack, is a little scary, Tyra isn’t so sure.

It's Tack's job to convince her.

Kame's Review:

"I didn't know that was what I was looking for. I just knew I wasn't going to settle for anything less, not anything less than perfect. I was going to find the man of my daydreams and nothing else would do. So I never got married because I never found him, no one ever brought that color into my life."

Tyra is invited by a friend to a biker party.  She has a memorable night with one of the bikers.  Her immediate thought was she has found her dream man, until he promptly kicks her out of his bed.  Imagine Tack’s surprise when on Monday morning he is introduced to Tyra his new office manager.  He immediately tells Tyra she can not work for him because of their past, but Tyra fights for the right to keep the job.  Tack vows they will only have a working relationship, but by the end of the week he arrives at Tyra’s house with a pizza.

I would describe Kane “Tack” Allen as a candied apple. He is hard on the outside but sweet inside.  And I was just as surprised as Tyra by his sweet comments.  He is fiercely loyal and lives by a rigid code.  He is a divorced Dad and some of his most character revealing moments are with his kids.  Tyra has some drama in her past and can not handle it any more.  She has decided long ago she would not settle for anyone less than her perfect man. Tack’s biker lifestyle is drastically different than her normal routine, but slowly he gets her to climb on the roller coaster of life. I loved this book - yes Tack can be tactless - but he has a sweet side too.

“This isn’t my know-it-all grin, Red. This is my I’m gonna get me some later grin.”
Still, I shared, “That’s even more annoying.”
“Don’t know shy since me gettin’ some means you’re gonna get some.”

Kristen Ashley wrote incredible dialogue for her characters; I highlighted whole pages of dialogue on my e-reader, and bookmarked many scenes. There were many characters in this book , but not too many to keep track of, this was the last book in her Dream Man series and setup for her new Chaos series. It is a perfect series book, visits past characters (or so I understand from friends) and great for those like me who are coming in at the end and don’t have lots of background. I never got lost or wished I understood a character or past situation.

There should be a rating for a book you can not put down and when you do finish it you immediately go back and start reading all your favorite parts. If you have a shelf on your e-reader named favorites – this book belongs on it – that is where I am shelving it! I am in a book hangover and I am probably going to reread parts all weekend!

I purchased this book on my own after so many of my book friends were raving about the whole series; actually declaring which leading man they liked the best. I am definitely team Tack!

Meet Kame:

Kame is part of a family of readers; one day she picked up the Nook she purchased for her husband and discovered her love of e-books. A few months later he purchased one for her so he could have his back! Kame’s Nook is never far, and she is hard pressed to pick a favorite book, genre or author. As long as there are characters that make her want to sit down and have a chat and a plot keeps the pages turning, she’ll read it.

I've heard that Ashley's books are pure crack--either you "love-them crack" or "why-do-I-keep-reading-this crack". Either way, I think I need to find out for myself! :) Thanks for this wonderful review, Kame, I'll definitely be putting this one on my list!

What about you? Have you tried any of Ashley's books yet? What did you think of them?

Enjoy!
