[Kame's Review]: "Resisting the Musician"

Resisting the Musician by Ally Blake
Publisher: Entangled: Indulgence (July 28, 2014)
Series: Head Over Heels, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Bridal shoe company owner Lori Hanover is in way over her head. First, her designer sister has fallen head over heels for the rock star fiancĂ© of a client - talk about bad PR! Now her business is falling apart.  Lori's only hope in saving her company is making the world believe it was true love, even if she's not so sure herself.  Her best bet? A song.  For this she turns to the most frustrating musical recluse in America, Dash Mills, a man who could pass for Thor’s sexier brother. And even though this former rock superstar agrees to help, it comes at a price…

When Lori agrees to Dash’s terms, he thinks she's the one in for a challenge. But the more time he spends with this spitfire bombshell, the more tempted he is to play her—in more ways than one. But Dash left behind the rock and roll life for a reason.  And seductive as Lori may be, if she drags him back into that world, this time he won't forgive himself...or her.

Kame's Review:

Lori needs to save her company and her sister's heart. She will do anything, even find a reclusive musician to help her sister Callie write a song to the man she loves.

Lori is focused. She has taken care of everyone but herself since she was young. Lori's drive was sometimes annoying but necessary for the plot. In my opinion she needed some more soft edges to make the falling for a recluse former musician more believable. Dash was a fun character and out of the two I liked him the best. I would have liked to see his character express more of a coming to grips with his past and even some longing for Lori.

The plot was easy to follow with no twists or turns. I really felt no emotion from the characters which in turn sort of made me not root for their HEA. I will admit I finished more out of duty than need to know the outcome.

I really liked Dash and Jake - Callie's love interest - so I might be persuaded to read another book that they are secondary characters.

3 1/2 STARS!

Thanks for the review, Kame! :) Such a sexy cover, I'm only sorry that you couldn't connect with the characters. I hate when that happens!

Have you read a book where you didn't feel a connection with the characters?

Enjoy!
