Tallulah is on the way to her brother's wedding and she is
dreading it. She loves her brother but she does not want to face her parents or
her ex-boyfriend. They all want her to abandon her dreams in the city and come
back to the small town. Garrett is also on that flight and also going to the wedding.
Tallulah's brother is marrying his sister. When he gets home he must convince
his boss that he is stable and the right man for the promotion. Maybe there is
a way they can both get what they want.
Garrett feels he was always a disappointment to his family;
most importantly to his father. It is a feeling he just can’t get away from
even though his father passed years before. How is he going to make his boss
think he is stable when in his heart he doesn’t think he can ever be what a
family needs – it is just easier to not plan on ever having a wife and kids.
This is not a unique character trait but for some reason Garrett took a
stronger hold of my heart than other heroes.
He seemed to really want to be a family man. Tallulah seemed to be a
soft soul and I question her desire to be a daycare director; I didn’t feel she
was driven to do that. She seemed rather passive in her career and seemed that
she believed she was destined to her fate of coming home and following her
family’s wishes. Garrett and Tallulah sizzled on the page together and I was
convinced they had feelings for each other.
The plot was easy to follow and was mostly about the
wedding. As soon as the wedding week
festivities were over the plot moved fast. I would have liked to see more of a
relationship between Tallulah and Garrett once they returned home. The conflict
was understandable, and the resolution was done very sweetly. Since this is a
book in a series I envision the lack of epilogue is because you will see the
continuation of their love story in other books.
This is the second book in the series, but the first I have
read. I found it wonderfully written and
will definitely find time to check out the first book in the series and the
follow up books.
