Here's my candidate for the week:

Slashed by Tracy Wolff
Publisher: Flirt (March 31, 2015)
Series: Extreme Risk, 3
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance

Do nice guys always finish last? In the new Extreme Risk novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff, a burnt-out underdog and a vulnerable tomboy defy the pressure to be perfect and go after what they really want.

Bighearted and easygoing, Luc Jennings is falling behind in a family of serious overachievers. While he may be decent enough at snowboarding to turn pro and rack up some sponsors, he’s never topped any podiums—unlike his friends Z, Ash, and Cam. Luc’s always been head over heels for Cam Bradley, but she’s never seen him as anything more than a friend. Now, after years of coming in second, Luc can’t take it anymore—especially if it means watching Cam chase another guy.

Cam hangs out almost exclusively with dudes, and that’s fine by her. She’d much rather be shredding at the Olympics than primping in the mirror. Cam’s wildest dreams have a way of coming true—except when it comes to getting her longtime crush and best friend, Z Michaels, to notice her. Then her mother suddenly shows up after being gone for, like, ever, and Cam’s whole world comes crashing down. Desperate for a place to lay low, she turns to the one person who’s always had her back.

The pose. The abs. The hint of the tatt on his arm. Love! And I've read the previous book in this series, which I really enjoyed (review).

Kame's Pick

Bonfire Night by Deanna Raybourn
Publisher: Harlequin MIRA (November 3, 2014)
Series: Lady Julia Grey, 5.7
Genre: Historical Romance

Amateur sleuth Lady Julia Grey and her detective husband, Nicholas Brisbane, face their latest adventure in this novella by New York Times bestselling author Deanna Raybourn.

It's the autumn of 1890, and almost a year has passed since—much to their surprise—Lady Julia and Nicholas became parents. Just as the couple begins to adapt, a solicitor arrives with a strange bequest. Nicholas, it seems, has inherited a country house—but only if he and his family are in residence from All Hallows' Eve through Bonfire Night.

Neither Lady Julia nor Nicholas is likely to be put off by local legends of ghosts and witches, and the eerie noises and strange lights that flit from room to room simply intrigue them. Until a new lady's maid disappears, igniting a caper that will have explosive results…

The fourth in a series of Lady Julia Grey stories set during traditional English holidays, Bonfire Night follows Silent Night, Midsummer Night and Twelfth Night. Look for Deanna's newest 1920s novel, Night of a Thousand Stars, in October!

Pat's Pick

Christmas in Venice by Joanne Walsh
Series: Christmas Around the World, 3
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Let it snow…?

Wasn’t she supposed to dream of a white Christmas? Right now, Ashlynne wishes the blizzards, ice and fog that have left her stranded in Venice would melt away. She’s facing a dreary holiday stuck at the airport—and she’s also run into her ex-husband.

Lorenzo di Grechi insists Ashlynne stay with him at his sumptuous palazzo apartment. He’s also promising her Christmas Venetian-style: eating, drinking, and visiting the seasonal markets and musical concerts that make the city so enchanting at this time of year.

She thought she’d moved on: laid the ghosts of their marriage which had ended so sadly and badly to rest, along with how passionately she’d loved him. But the sexual attraction between them is still as potent as ever, and he seems to have changed for the better, forcing her to question her belief that he’d cheated on her at a time when she’d needed him most.

Is this just some sort of Christmas magic at work? Or a real chance to forgive and rediscover her love for Lorenzo?

Ooh, yummy. I'll take the snowboarder if Cam doesn't want him. Other than that, mighty fine covers for 200 covers later.

:) I may have to fight you for him . . . :D I still need to read book 1 in the series, but loved book 2. Did you ever read them?

Delicious covers you have here!! I just adore all three! I love the sound of Christmas in Venice...sounds delightful and I really like the reconciliation themes. And as a plus I am looking for some fresh Christmas themed romances...so this one just sounds perfect.

The_Book_Queen said...

:) Pat gave it 4 stars, I think? Her review will go up early November or so!

I don't read many Christmas romances, but I try to find at least two or three really good ones each year, so I'm open to suggestions!

I've not read her adult titles, only her NA. But it seems all of her covers are yummy! :)

In general I think that the covers for Historical Romances have to be some of the most beautiful.

I see that cover model in the first book alot. He just screams paranormal to me. Gorgeous jeweled tones in the Bonfire cover. Oh, and the couple in the third one look so engaged they're going to be oblivious to Christmas, Venice or anything else. Haha! Nice picks, guys.

Congrats on celebrating your two hundredth post. Lots of gorgeous covers out there for sure. I think the first time I ever wanted to pet a cover was either one of Jaci Burton's play by play covers or Louisa Edward's Rising Chef series covers. I'm always struck by the artistic beauty of the CS Harris' Sebastian St. Cyr series covers. I could totally keep going b/c there are so many I love for different reasons.

Oh yes, those are all great covers. In fact, I think I need to go check them out again. Just to refresh my memory, of course. :D
