[Kame's ARC Review]: "His Taste of Temptation"

His Taste of Temptation by Cathryn Fox
Publisher: Samhain Publishing, Ltd. (November 4, 2014)
Series: In the Line of Duty, 3
Genre: Contemporary Romance

One affair, thirty days.

In the Line of Duty, Book 3

Since his last relationship blew up in his face, bomb expert Brad Crosby has lost his appetite for “permanent”. But his kid brother’s best friend? Now there’s a curvy morsel he could wrap his lips around.

For years Brad has been the star of Madison Graham’s fantasies. If only she were the kind of put-together girl he prefers, not a pastry chef whose makeup consists of a dusting of powdered sugar on her nose. A belief that’s confirmed when her apartment floods and he offers to let her sleep in his bed—alone.

Wrapped in Brad’s sheets, she dreams of his touches, his kisses, the feel of his body on hers. Except her dreams feel like reality—and come morning, she realizes it wasn’t a dream at all.

Soon the two are burning up the nights. But as Madison’s sweet love grows on him, Brad can’t help but think of extending their time together.

Too bad Madison keeps reminding him their affair has an expiration date.

Warning: May contain heat, explosive sex, and Fourth of July fireworks that pale in comparison to the sparks between a sworn bachelor and a tempting pastry chef.

His Trouble in Tallulah (#2) -- Kame

Kame's Review:

This is a 3 1/2 star read for me on the way to 4 as I really like the series

Brad has been noticing his brother's roommate for a while now.  His brother calls her his roommate but Brad knows it has to be more than that because Madison is a knock out. Madison has loved Brad most of her life but she is convinced he would never consider leaving his typical type of girl friend behind to be with someone as frumpy as her.

Madison has the best job. She is a pastry chef and owner of a bakery.  I would have loved to see more of that in the book, to see her passion for sweets and her business sense to be explored.  It was implied - but I think it could have added so much more to Madison outside of her getting comfortable in her own skin.  Brad has a career I just could not understand, not because it was complicated but because it was sort of brushed off quickly in the plot. I can't categorize they type of hero Brad is, he isn't an alpha, and he isn't all that sensitive. Even though I did have issues with each character individually I did enjoy them together. They did have good chemistry.

The plot was quick as they had a 30 day time limit on their arrangement. In keeping with the other book I read in the series there was plenty of steamy scenes; however I think there were too many and the love story and character development suffered. I would have loved more dialog between the characters about feelings.  The lack of dialog and scenes between the two of them outside the bedroom make me question Brad's feelings at the end of the book.

Even with these issues I am still glad I read the book and I do plan on continuing with the series if there is another book.  I like the small town and I enjoyed a little glimpse at the characters from book 2.

3 1/2 STARS!
