[Review]: "All Broke Down"

All Broke Down by Cora Carmack
Publisher: William Morrow Paperbacks (October 28, 2014)
Series: Rusk University, 2
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance

In this second book in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack’s New Adult, Texas-set Rusk University series, which began with All Lined Up, a young woman discovers that you can’t only fight for what you believe in . . . sometimes you have to fight for what you love

Dylan fights for lost causes. Probably because she used to be one.

Environmental issues, civil rights, corrupt corporations, and politicians—you name it, she’s probably been involved in a protest. When her latest cause lands her in jail overnight, she meets Silas Moore. He’s in for a different kind of fighting. And though he’s arrogant and infuriating, she can’t help being fascinated with him. Yet another lost cause.

Football and trouble are the only things that have ever come naturally to Silas. And it’s trouble that lands him in a cell next to do-gooder Dylan. He’s met girls like her before—fixers, he calls them, desperate to heal the damage and make him into their ideal boyfriend. But he doesn’t think he’s broken, and he definitely doesn’t need a girlfriend trying to change him. Until, that is, his anger issues and rash decisions threaten the only thing he really cares about, his spot on the Rusk University football team. Dylan might just be the perfect girl to help.

Because Silas Moore needs some fixing after all.

All Lined Up (#1) -- TBQ

My Review:

It's such a stupid thing. I've had my arm around more girls than I could possibly remember, but in this moment with this girl, who is so far above me I might as well be trying to scoop up the stars, it feels a little bit like a hard-earned first down.
--Silas

Silas. Oh, Silas!

I'm going to shatter into a thousand pieces from the intensity of this kiss alone. His hand is on my cheek, turning my head, and it's so big that I feel like I'm completely at his mercy. In fact, he kisses me like he wants to own me. Not even that . . . he kisses me like he already does own me.
–Dylan

I can't even begin to tell you how AMAZING ALL Broke Down is. Perhaps this will give you an idea: I highlighted over 50 quotes and scenes on my Kindle. OVER 50, and I'm not joking! I love this book so much it's scary. I'll be rereading it often, sharing it with friends, probably buying a print copy, too, because that's what I do with my favorite books. And All Broke Down is one of those books.

I want to forget myself in her, too, steal some of her sunshine, and give this pristine, perfect girl a taste of what it's like to get a little dirty.
--Silas

I VOLUNTEER TO TAKE DYLAN'S SPOT!

When I read All Lined Up earlier this year, I knew Silas's story was going to be hard. And it was, but Carmack handled it perfectly. I caught the Silas Virus from the start and as the pages turned I only fell for him even more.

They say bad shit happens in threes, but I gave up counting a long time ago.
 –Silas

I loved how Silas had a past, but he was strong, strong enough to move past it. For a while there he was lost, but with the help of Dylan he found his inner strength, which had truly been there all along. The two joke about fixing each other, but the truth is they didn't need to be fixed, they just needed love and support.

So he doesn't tick any of my usual boxes, but there's something in the way he looks at me. In his eyes, there's this strange kind of appreciation that is part attraction, part something else that makes me feel rare and precious and . . . seen.
–Dylan

Dylan had a great inner strength as well. She thought she knew what she wanted in life, but Silas helped her to realize she was instead “wanting” the things she was told to want, or expected to do.

I'm going to watch you, Dylan. Just like this. I'm going to watch you come apart around my fingers, and it might be the hottest fucking thing I've ever seen.”

My eyelids start to fall under the pleasure, and he twists his fingers inside me. I pull his hair on accident, and he growls his approval.

Look at me, Dylan. Don't close your eyes. I want to see it. I want to watch you come for me. Can you give me that?”

Si-Silas.”

His grin is wicked, so gorgeous. I just stare at him. I could stare at him all day.

Feel free to say that while you come, too.”

Hands down, this is Carmack's sexiest book to date – and I loved every dirty, steamy minute of it! Cora – well done, and please give us all that and more in your next book!

You asked me what I want. This is what I want. I've been fucking dying to taste you. I want to make you do more than breathe. I want you to scream for me.”
--Silas

Don't worry, it wasn't all sex, although my Kindle is still smoking a bit from those scenes . .. These two have a very deep connection, as well as fun times together. These two were perfect for each other, and I loved watching their story play out.

“All of you,” he whispers against the back of my neck. “Every single thing about you gets to me, digs deep.”

By far my favorite Cormack novel, and one that I will be visiting again and again. I love Carmack's writing style and stories, period, but I *LOVE * the Rusk series. I cannot wait for spring – Torres and Antonella? *dies * I really hope Stella has her own story because, damn, she needs it! And Matt? And, oh hell, Cora, you can never stop writing this series, do you hear me?

He's good at crossing lines. Pushing boundaries.

He pushed mine, and because of it, I can breathe.

I love Silas Moore, and I feel pretty certain that because of that, my life will never feel muted again.

In short, go, buy, and catch the Silas Virus. Thank me later. :D

5 STARS!

I bought a copy of this ebook.

*Note: The quotes used belong to Cora Carmack; TBQ's Book Palace does not claim them. Also, if there are any errors in the quotes, it is entirely my fault while writing them down.

Did you survive my happy raving and miles of quotes? I hope so! Have I tempted you into buying All Broke Down yet?

Enjoy!

Oh my glands, you're killing me. I just got the first one and now I want them out of order. Haha!

Hehe -- mission accomplished! :)

While you wouldn't be lost, I'd still recommend reading in order. But do it quick -- because, yeah, Silas, you definitely need him NOW!

I'm interested to know what you think of both of them!

Oh, its worse. I'm doing NaNoWriMo and have a stack of review commitments so who knows when I'll get to it. But yeah, we'll talk book when I get these read.

:) How's the writing going, by the way?

Good! Based on their little graph chart, I'm on target to finish ahead. This will leave room for days that I can't touch it at all or just get stuck. Thanks for asking.
