#FitReaders; Weekly Check-In

A new year, new goals. And this year I'm participating in FitReaders to help get in shape.

#FitReaders is hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog  and That’s What I’m Talking About. Interested in joining? Find out more HERE

January 16th - 22nd:

  • Three days in a row I was able to do both the daily dog walks and a bonus walk with my neighbor, which kicked up my steps and miles for the week. :)
  • I only did crunches/squats/jumping jacks on two days. I still need to get back into the habit of doing them every single day.
  • My best day was Wednesday, with over 16K steps and 7 miles.

  • Total steps for the week: 80,341 steps
  • Total miles for the week: 35.54 miles
  • Weight: Down 0.8 pound

If you use FitBit, you can find me HERE. Let's make 2015 our year to get fit! :)

Enjoy!

Until Next Time,

awesome!! It looks like you have had a good week. I do love doing squats...but boy does it make my thighs burn like crazy. I just have to keep thinking, how great they will look if I keep them up. "Call Me Maybe" is my fav. song to listen to while doing them. It really helps me keep going, and I need all the help I can get. LOL Hope you are well and enjoying the "cooler" weather. Makes you wish for spring to come sooner right?

Ooh, I may have to put that on while doing the squats. Would definitely make it more fun! ;-)

I'm very surprised at how little snow we've had this year; but then, knowing the weather norms for the state, now Feb will be full of snow. LOL Spring can't come quick enough!

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

You had a great week! That's is amazing how many steps you got in this week. I need to move more and add crunches to my exercise routine. I hope you continue to have good weather for your walks. Have a great week!

Thanks, Kathy! Here's to many steps and good weather for both of us next week! :D

Good job! Dogs are great for getting you moving too. They don't care that you don't feel like getting up or moving :-))

So very true -- I don't know what I'd do without these two and their infectious enthusiasm for the walks! :)

Ironically, the very reason you love dogs (and goodness knows I need the exercise) is the very reason I prefer to hang out with cats. (lol) They aren't the least bit interested in walking, thank goodness! I love animals, but just don't have the time to walk doggies. I am impressed with your commitment to fitness, and that many steps is amazing! I've been braving my glider 3 times per week despite hating it, and lifting weights daily to get rid of the jigglies. Now if I can just give up the fun food one day at a time, I'll be better. I plan to visit this blog regularly for emotional motivation! (lol) Lover of Romance : Wow! Kudos to you for actually loving squats! I'm afraid of them even though I know they work. Hugs ...

LOL It's funny; growing up I was a total cat person -- and I still am. The ruler of the house is definitely my cat, not the pups. But then in my late teens we adopted these two and I have quiet the soft spot for them, even though in general I'm still more of a cat person. They definitely keep me going!

Re giving up the fun food? I hear you. Despite my high steps each day, I ruin that by eating more than I should of the fun food still. *sigh* One thing at a time!

Stop by and time you wish, RO! :)

I have dogs, too, and find that they are great for getting those steps in - they need to go out at least 2-3 times a day (the puppy even more than that!). I have chocolate labs, what about you? I'm primarily a walker and occasionally do yoga, which I need to get back to doing on a regular basis. I also need to start doing some sort of strength training, even if it's only using my own body - burpees, push-ups, planks, etc. I just need to start doing them and make it a habit. Right now I'm training to walk a 1/2 marathon in March, so I'll be doing at least one long walk each week, but I haven't really been too serious about the training until this past week. (I did do 2 last year, so I'm not too worried about this one!) My best day was the day I did my long walk - a little over 5 miles and with all my other activities - walking the dogs and running some errands, I ended up with just over 20K steps!

Oh, and I sent you a fitbit friend request, too :)

*nods* I have a chihuahua and the other is a shih tzu-poodle mix. The chihuahua, with her short little legs, is more or less being dragged on the walks, while my bigger boy (the mix) is pretty much dragging BOTH of us because he loves walking so much. :)

Good luck with the marathon training; I've been thinking of doing one of my local events, but I can't get any friends to join and if I do it, I'd rather have a buddy. Maybe one of these years I'll convince the BFF to do it. LOL

I need to get back to my abs, I took a break over the weekend

Same. Though it's been a few weeks since I last did it. Oops.
