Sawyer has just arrived at this new job at Fiddle Creek Ranch and is settling into the bunkhouse when he meets the business end of Jill Cleary’s shotgun. Jill has returned to Fiddle Creek to help her Aunt Gladys, but her Aunt failed to mention she will be sharing the bunkhouse with a hunky cowboy. Not only do they have an instant spark of attraction to deal with, they also have a century old feud between two families that would love to claim Fiddle Creek Ranch as their own.
When I read a cowboy romance I love to read about a heroine who is like Jill. She knows how to ranch and loves it. I found it a great trait that she could bake but could hardly cook. She seemed to have wonderful business sense along with her ranch sense. Sawyer I have loved for a few Carolyn Brown books now, and I am happy to see him show a completely lovable side of him. He is very capable at running a ranch, can cook almost anything, and has a softer side that just made me love him more. Sawyer and Jill fought the attraction for so long, both trying to avoid an awkward situation if they could not make for the long haul.
The plot was easy to follow, and covered a few weeks. I enjoyed the interaction with those wonderful aunts and their best friend Verde. The only thing that detracted from my reading was the century old feud. It was still a prominent plot point – and one that wore on me. However I did enjoy Jill and Sawyer’s antics to keep the families at bay. The romance between Sawyer and Jill was heartwarming. I really did feel their connection, and I enjoyed how they progressed towards love and did not immediately give into the sparks of attraction.
A hint to the next book in the series with announcement of Sawyer’s cousin Rhett coming to the ranch to help. I look forward to that book and more from Carolyn Brown. She can write a fantastic cowboy romance.

Jill’s gaze started at Sawyer’s eyelashes, which totally fascinated her. How could a thick bunch of dark hair be so seductive? Finally she let her eyes travel past his nose and to his lips. The music in her head wasn’t haunting, but it wasn’t upbeat either. It was like the background music to an old gospel hymn, peaceful with the promise of something eternal.
When she got to his slightly parted lips, the chemistry between them reached a brand-new height. His knuckles moved to trace her jawline, and then his hand splayed out, palm resting on her cheek, pinky teasing her ear, the rest holding her neck steady as his lips closed over hers.
Jill cupped his cheeks in her hands and took the first step to deepen the kiss. Desire fanned the fires of arousal until they were both panting. He moved from her lips to her neck, nuzzling, tasting, driving her crazy.
With one tug, all the snaps of his shirt popped open, and she buried her face in the soft black hair covering his bare chest. He groaned, and she shifted her weight until she was sitting in his lap.
It should not happen, but it was going to. Plain and simple. She wanted Sawyer. She needed him, and not even an act of God was going to stop what they’d started.

I really connected with Jill...I am more of a baker than a good cook...LOL but its a work in progress. And her character was so lively and I really connected with her. Loved this book and can't wait to read more from this author. Great review hun!!
