Series: Ultimate, 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

An up-and-coming MMA fighter wants more than just one night from a woman fleeing her past in New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster's irresistible new novel

Heavyweight fighter Denver Lewis plays real nice, but he doesn't share. That's why he's been avoiding top-notch flirt Cherry Peyton. But a man can only resist those lush curves for so long. Their encounter surpasses all his fantasies, bringing out protective urges that Cherry's about to need more than she knows…

Denver's combination of pure muscle and unexpected tenderness has been driving Cherry wild. Yet no sooner does she get what she's been craving than old troubles show up on her doorstep. And this time, Cherry can't hide behind a carefree facade. Because the man by her side is one who'll fight like hell to keep her safe…if only she'll trust him enough to let him…

Kame's Review:

Cherry and Denver have been watching each other and avoiding the pull of attraction. They finally give in and before it can turn into a night of passion Cherry succumbs to the flu. Unfortunately her health is the least of the worries for this couple.

I know it sounds weird but my favorite scenes in this book are where Denver is taking care of Cherry. I envision Denver this big fighter and to think of him gently taking care of Cherry brought a smile to my face. Cherry has had a hard life which is in dark contrast to the life Denver has lived, but they build something together with honesty.

This is not the steamiest book I have ever read, but when you take into account a good part of the book Cherry was battling the flu I think that is okay. This is the second book in a series where I have only read the prequel novella prior to this. The novella has lots of characters and a few plot highlights which I think is normal for a novella introducing you to a series. This book however kept up with that theme, and I did not find it as enjoyable. Yes I know the next couple in the series needs to meet and spark your interest to buy the next book but I would have loved some more Cherry and Denver moments - or my goodness even moments of them apart pondering their relationship over scenes with the other fighters.

I am on the fence as to whether I will go back and read book 1 or actually even read book 3.

3 1/2 STARS!

I read and enjoyed the prequel novella, but am still on the fence with the rest of the series. I'll probably put it down a bit on the list to check out.
