[Pat's Review]: "Malibu Secrets"

Malibu Secrets by M.K. Meredith
Publisher: Entangled Publishing, LLC (November 15, 2015)
Series: Malibu Sights, 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

On the verge of losing the Malibu home she inherited from her great-aunt, Addi Dekker is completely failing to prove to her family she can make it as a writer. Not exactly how a girl proves her independence. If she doesn’t want to give up her dream and go back to the soul-sucking job she just left, Addi has to swallow her dislike of Hollywood and rent the house out to the sexy-as-hell film producer.

And maybe (shhhh!) save money by secretly living there, too.

Roque Gallagher is pouring his heart and savings into his first independent film to make the industry acknowledge him for his talent and not just his family name. Addi’s home is perfect for the shoot, but she’s far too tempting. He’s never been able to handle work and a relationship, and this is the film of a lifetime. Between a shrinking budget and his director quitting, the last thing he needs is a sexy-as-sin tease like Addi. And he has a feeling there's something she's hiding...

Pat's Review:

This is a fascinating story about Malibu, the home of Hollywood stars and wannabes!

Addie Decker is the youngest of her siblings, and fiercely protected by her family. She wants a life on her own, but her latest decisions have blown up in her face. She quit her lucrative job to be a full time romance writer, and rejection after rejection is breaking her heart. She inherited her grandmother's beautiful bungalow, which she loves, but the back taxes owed are killing her, and foreclosure is right around the corner. She can't lose her home, which would prove that she can't do anything on her own.  She needs money, and refuses to ask her family.

Roque Gallagher is a " Hollywood" Gallagher, a family of writers, producers and directors of the best films in Hollywood. He has been assured for years that it will be easy to make his living on his name and good looks. He wants to make his living by proving his talents. Roque wants Addie's house for the film he is producing. She immediately rejects the idea, but after her discussion with her best friend Chase sees it might be the way to save her home. She agrees to the contract, which is paying her for rent, putting her up in a classy hotel, but she has a secret, planning to bank the money for her hotel and sleeping in her attic. She also has a job as Roque's assistant on the set. When she feels guilty about deceiving Roque, she knows Hollywood always has money, he'll be fine. Addie charms the crew, keeps things  moving smoothly and is captivating to Roque. His only requirement is that she never lie to him......it is a deal breaker. That could be a problem for Addie, especially since she is falling hard for Roque.

The love story is sweet, characters very likable and is easily read as a stand alone.  The first in the series, Malibu Betrayals, is next on my list. This is the first novel I have read by Ms. Meredith, it won't be the last!

4 STARS!
