Whatcha Reading? (46)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and we will share our brief thoughts on books that we read during the previous week but will not be reviewing.

May 8th - 14th:

TBQ:

-- The Story Guy by Mary Ann Rivers --

This book -- and author -- has been on my radar for a while, and I know both Kame and Pat have loved some of Rivers other novels. But big thanks (again) to @gimmethosebooks  for prodding me to read it ASAP.

I adored this book. Interesting premise, great writing, great characters. It's an emotional read though, and I had all the feels for Brian. All of them. As a caretaker myself, I could relate to a lot of the things he was responsible for, a lot of the things he felt.

Add to that the amazing (and well done) sexual build up and chemistry, and you have the recipe for a perfect read. (I mean ridiculously hot. UNF.) Yes, it's a novella, and while I did wish for a bit of a more fleshed out ending, I was still very content with what we got. I'll definitely be back for more of Rivers' books. 4 1/2 STARS

Will be in the May Royal Picks!

-- Beta Test by Annabeth Albert --

I loved the previous book in this series. Hell, I've loved all of Albert's books so far, and this one is no different. There's family drama/angst, but there's also great relationship development between Tristan and Ravi, lots of sizzle (of course) and some fun banter, too. I'm dying for the next  book after realizing whose book it is. Is it September yet?!? I'll have a full review up May 23rd! 4 STARS

-- The Reverse of Perfection by Christi Barth --

Adored this one, read it in one day. Yes, it's a novella, but even so, I was hooked and thought the pacing was on point -- nothing unnecessary taking up space, nothing skipped or rushed past, either. I'm glad I picked this up; Barth sent it to me a while ago, but somehow it fell through my "Must Review Next" list. (#BloggerProblems . . . ) Luckily I found it, opened it, and all but inhaled it Wednesday. I definitely want to read more of this series --- especially the drummer's book. Review on Monday (May 16th). 4 STARS

Ariel realized he'd just kissed her legs out from under her without even using two hands. The other hand had kept holding his jacket.

Ohhh.

I also finished Too Hot to Handle Sunday morning, but since I also posted the review yesterday, I figured I'd skip it in this post. :)
