[Pat's Review]: "Searching for Harmony"

Searching for Harmony by Kelly Elliott
Publisher: Loveswept (July 12, 2016)
Series: Boston Love, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

From New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott comes the gut-wrenching story of a love that transcends all odds—and transforms the deepest pain into the brightest hope.

Firefighter and first responder Preston Ward thought he had grown immune to the job’s emotional burns. But when he goes out on a particularly tragic call, he realizes that some scenes are too devastating to forget. And yet, if it weren’t for that terrible night, he never would have met the woman who makes him want to risk his heart.

More than once, Harmony Banks has watched her perfectly ordered world torn apart by fate. Now she’s finding out that what she lost wasn’t as perfect as she thought—and it’s tearing her apart. The only thing that keeps her going is the kindness of a stranger: the firefighter who saved her life the night everything changed.

Preston isn’t like the men who have come before. For one thing, he’s far more genuine. And the love Harmony feels growing between them is almost too intense for her wounded soul. But if she and Preston can push past heartbreak, they’ll find that something incredible awaits in each other’s arms.

Pat's Review:

This was a very emotional read for me. The first chapter deals with the worst nightmare of every wife and mother: how do you recover from losing a child and a husband in a few terrible moments?

Harmony Banks was in the car with her husband Trent and their eighteen month old boy, TJ.  A truck slams into them and all she can feel when she wakes up is blinding pain, and the sight of her baby being worked on by a paramedic. Her own screams fill her ears and only stop when she passes out. When she awakens, her brother Jake, her only family, has to tell her that both TJ and Trent were killed in the crash. But with her brother is the firefighter she saw working on TJ. He is kind, gentle and suffering his own feelings of sadness and guilt. What could he have done differently to save her baby?

Preston Ward has been a firefighter/paramedic for several years, but this was the first baby he has lost. He is deeply effected by the pain that Harmony is going through, and tries to help as best he can. In the process he and Jake become close friends and the more time he spends with Harmony, the more he knows he can't give her up. Soon, their feelings are strong and can't be denied. Preston's career is dangerous, and after falling in love with him can Harmony face the fear of the danger he is in?

This story is a beautiful romance with heartbreaking moments along with the strength of a powerful love.
