    Pat's Review:

Ms. Cowles is a first time author for me, but I loved the characters and the story, so I will definitely be adding her to my auto buy list!

Carter is a young woman who wants to change the world. She has moved to L.A. to work for Teach for Youth, and will be working with young children from the ghettos of Los Angeles. Her best friend from childhood, Liam, also lives in Malibu and is a world famous musician excited to take her under his wing. She radiates sweetness and innocence, and Liam wants to protect her. One of his best friends Austin, former security guard now MMA fighter is big, bad and broody. Still reeling from a bad breakup, he wants nothing to do with women.

Carter somehow sneaks under his locked emotions. He agrees to teach her self-defense and soon they become very close. But his career, her innocence, and his fear of commitment work against them. Add in a cruel, conniving roommate and it all crashes. Carter is in love with Austin, and while he knows that he cares about her, it's not love . . . or is it?

There is some underlying suspense, a beautiful slow-growing romance, and the heat is sizzling. The characters are very interesting and have wonderful stories of their own, and I found I wanted to know more.
