Mercy by HelenKay Dimon
Publisher: Berkley Trade (May 6, 2014)
Genre: Romantic Suspense
After she infiltrated his business and betrayed his trust, a disavowed CIA agent must seek sanctuary in the bedroom of a man who will either help her, kill her, or bring her to her knees…
Becca Ford is on her own. Eight months after she headed up a sting operation to take down millionaire club owner Jarrett Holt, the other agents in her special ops team have been eliminated under odd circumstances, and she needs a place to hide.
Jarrett is a man who prefers darkness to light. He deals in the only truly valuable currency—information—and his supper club caters to an exclusive clientele. It was an uncharacteristic moment of weakness when he let a woman into his life. But it’s not luck that the criminal charges disappeared . . . as did the evidence.
When Becca returns to the club seeking his help, Jarrett doesn’t want to hear her story. But he does want her body, and demands that she give it to him. He’ll keep her safe—for now—but it’ll be in his bed and on his terms, until he says they’re done.

Kame's Review:
Becca Ford is an operative. She is a trained killer; and she is running for her life. Someone is systematically killing the members of her team; she escaped the attempt on her life but now she must find a safe place. She has come back to where it all started and the only man she trusts to help her Jarrett Holt. The exact man she helped the CIA drag away in cuffs eight months ago.
Becca is the kind of heroine a lot of women would want to be. She is resourceful, strong, and can definitely protect herself. She has thought of Jarrett a lot since the end of her assignment and his arrest and even though it has been eight months the feelings she had for him are just as strong. Jarrett is a perfect example of a bad guy turned good. He is desperately trying to deny he still has strong feelings for Becca. There are sparks flying the instant these two see each other again. Steamy is not an accurate word for their time together – these scenes are HOT! Their relationship is more than HOT scenes though and slowly we see interaction and caring and a bond forming. Actually my favorite scenes were the ones where they were fighting. Becca was not afraid to call Jarrett an idiot, and generally when she did they were followed by Jarrett really opening up.
I will say at the start of the book I double checked to see if there was another book in this series I should have read first (there isn’t); but once I got all the background about the initial operation and all the players straight in my head I was fine. The plot was concise, flowed nicely, and the emotion of the conclusion was perfect. I actually reread the last two chapters because it was so good. There were some wonderful secondary characters. My favorite was Wade, Jarrett’s right hand man. We are treated to a look into his private life and his relationship with the man who is living with him (I would classify those scenes more steamy than HOT).
A great different type of HelenKay Dimon read for me and I loved it! I want to see more of this supper club and definitely want to see some of those secondary characters get an HEA of their own (Wade please!). I will absolutely be reading more of this series.
4 1/2 STARS!

Great review Kame......looks interesting!
I've read a few HKD books and this one too. It was a bit different. I wasn't as taken with it, but it was still good. Nice review, Kame!
