Nothing Like Paris is a second-chance romance
between two young men who were best of friends (and lovers) before life and
personal decisions tore them apart. Now, a few years later, Jack's back in town
to lick his wounds and, slowly, he tries to rekindle his friendship with Miguel
(Mike). It's a bumpy road, but the end result is more than just friendship.
This is my second time reading Amy Jo Cousins (the first was
a free novella just a few weeks ago) and once again I quite enjoyed it! I do
think if I had read the previous book in this series, I might have understood a
bit more about what went down with Jack at university, but I wouldn't say it's
necessary to read in order, either.
Two scenes stood out for me in this book – and yes, they were
both smexy scenes. Well, one was, the other was a make-out scene only.
In the first scene, Miguel and Jack offer to make out for
Andie (a friend and worker at Miguel's shop). Oh my, when those two make out
for her, they REALLY put on a show! And I don't mean a fake show, no, I mean a
blazing hot, no-way-could-they-fake-that-reaction show that had Andie fanning
her face – and me as well! It was beyond sexy.
The second scene that I loved was a phone-sex scene, with
Jack in the back of a truck and Miguel back at home. So fucking hot, trust me.
:)
Besides the chemistry, which was there and done well, these
two also had a solid friendship, which I liked. I was glad that both men were
able to realize what their dreams were in life and go for it; it wasn't easy,
but they did it.
All in all, I was very happy with Nothing Like Paris,
and I will be coming back for more books by this author.

Yes, it was Cut & Run, first book in the series. I didn't like the narration at all, and of course my like for the book suffered :(
Completely understandable -- a bad narrator can really break a book. I've not read that series, but I know many love it.
