This is the newest novel by Ms. Miles set in Dare Valley, Colorado and loved by her readers. I'm no exception.
Blake Cunningham lost the love of his life, Natalie Hale, when her best friend and sister-in-law, Kim passed away from cancer. Nat suffered an emotional shutdown. She needed to be numb, away from people who would try to smother or fix her. She had to get away from Blake. So, she moved back to Dare Valley, surrounded by family and works as the head caterer for the Grand Mountain Hotel. She is working on her grief, but it's always there.
Blake Cunningham, NFL quarterback, has not stopped hoping for a second chance. He will do anything. Making up his mind, he retires from the NFL, moves to Dare Valley and makes winning back Nat his highest priority. Blake's brother, Aaron, who had Downs Syndrome and was Blake's inspiration in all he did, recently passed away from heart failure. Now that he's retired it's time to think about the future. He's planning a football camp at a local university for intellectually disabled children, staffed by all his buddies from his playing days and honoring Aaron. Natalie doesn't even know he has moved until a bridge appears between her property and next door. The first thing she sees is Touchdown her beagle she stills adores. Next, Blake appears. He makes no secret of his plans. He wants to share Touchdown and prove to her they still love each other. She feels a spark at his words, maybe it's time.
This novel is a very romantic love story. Blake is sweet, gorgeous and totally in love with Nat, which he tries to prove in every way he can. Nat is afraid, stubborn and still very attracted to Blake, but still pushes him away. I did want to shake her on occasion for not seeing the love right in front of her! A very enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to the next visit to Dare Valley.

I'm really glad you enjoyed this one, Pat. However, this one is not for me. I get people go through emotional shutdowns over grief, but I've read a few with that scenario and it broke my heart to see them shove out their loved ones and people who were hurting right along beside them.
