[Pat's Review]: "The Unfolding"

The Unfolding by Betsy Talbot
Publisher: ES Scott Publishing (March 13, 2015)
Series: Late Bloomers
Genre: Contemporary Romance

It's New Year's Eve, and Lily is feeling anything but festive.

Lily Lang has just discovered at the age of forty that she can't have it all. Her career with Doctors Without Borders is rewarding but consuming, and her recent divorce proves it. As she announces the bad news to her best friends over dinner on New Year's Eve, she's on the verge of giving up on love forever.

Will a chance encounter on the roof just restore her faith in finding the yin to her yang? Handsome Simon certainly hopes so.

This is a Late Bloomers Series short story and includes all five main characters from the series.

About The Late Bloomers Series: After a lifetime of friendship bordering on sisterhood, five 40-something women from Arizona each embark on their own adventures in love, travel, and discovery around the globe. Knowing themselves far better than they did in their 20s and 30s, these seasoned women are ready to take on the world. If 40 is the new 20, these women are just getting started.

Pat's Review:

This is a quick introduction to the women, best friends since childhood, that make up the Late Bloomers. Violet, Daisy, Rose, Ivy and Lilly were raised by Moms who were best friends and lived in a commune.....hence the flower names.  They communicate frequently, all in their 40's, and in times of crisis they are always together. It's New Year's Eve in New York City and the women are lamenting the surprise divorce of Lily. Lily is a M.D. and works with Doctors Without Borders and seldom in the U.S. She's on a break and contemplating what to do next, but Lilly knows it must be with her best friends/sisters. Especially since there answer to most difficulties is "We need food, drink and sexy men to get through this crisis.......STAT!"  Each of the women are leading different lives and careers but their sisterhood is part of their soul.

This series, the first being Wild Rose, takes us on a journey to Italy. I loved the beautiful love story in Wild Rose and the quiet strength of Rose. Second in the series is English Ivy, definitely looking forward to the trip to London and somewhat feisty Ivy!

It's wonderful to read novels about mature women, because I am one! I would grab Wild Rose so you'll be ready for English Ivy.......
