Pat's Review:

Carly Reece, former fashion model, is checking the inventory of her soon to open boutique, Flawless, that will showcase designs, fabric and jewelry made all over the world, and is one of a kind.  Her opening is set, and she's ready. Finishing up some last minute things, she hears a dog persistently barking. She looks around the area and sees no signs of a dog in trouble, but the barking persists. Following the sound, she finds a door open in the shop next to her, and inside is the dog tied up and an unconscious man. Struggling to release the dog there is suddenly a whooshing sound, and flames appear. With great difficulty, she drags the man out because the dog won't leave him. First Responders arrive, and she is checked out and questioned. She has little information, tells them what she knows, and notices the dog has been left. She takes him home with her to face what is left of her shop tomorrow.

Noah Glover, former police officer, is a fire investigator with his K-9 Harley. He has been investigating a series of fires of questionable cause. He wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the night before, and a suspect in the fire that nearly killed him. A suicide note and various evidence points to him.  He has to prove his innocence, and pairing up with the woman who saved his life and his dog is the last thing he wants. But she is a beauty, loves his dog, and after a while believes him. Carly's shop is ruined, she might as well pair up with the man who is trying to find who did it. Not to mention he's gorgeous!

Suspense, danger and a sizzling romance make this an enjoyable read. Ms. Ayres's K-9 Rescue series is excellent.
