Reckless Honor by Tonya Burrows
Publisher: Entangled: Amara (April 23, 2018)
Series: HORNET, 5
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Jean-Luc Cavalier has only ever cared about three things: sex, booze, and the dangerous missions he undertakes with HORNET. Laissez les bons temps rouler is more than a Mardi Gras motto—it’s the way he lives his life. But all that changes the night he rescues Dr. Claire Oliver from deadly mercenaries.

Now he can’t get the gorgeous blond virologist out of his head.

Claire is running for her life. Someone wants her antiviral research and they’re willing to kill anyone and everyone to get it. She has no one to turn to except a womanizing Cajun with a silver tongue and devastating smile.

But when an ultra-deadly virus decimates the Niger Delta, saving Claire and her research becomes the least of HORNET’s concerns. The virus has all the markings of a bioweapon and Nigeria is only the testing grounds…

Pat's Review:

Romantic suspense with a roller coaster ride of action and a deadly virus spreading like wildfire. Jean-Luc Cavalier is going against his boss and his HORNET teammates and heading out to protect Dr. Claire Oliver on his own. She’s turned his life and heart upside down. He’ll do anything to save and protect her.......even die.

Jean-Luc is Cajun, hard drinking, hard loving and not a man to mess with. When he rescued Dr. Claire Oliver, virologist, in Martinique, she got under his skin and he couldn’t forget her. Now he finds himself a prisoner in a rotting prison in Nigeria, no way to contact anyone, and the guards are dying around him.

Claire Oliver lost her partner and best friend in Martinique, and also the chance to continue testing her anti-viral drug Akeso. After a plea from a medical school friend in Nigeria, she heads to help her with medical care for a new deadly virus. So far it’s 100% fatal and gaining more victims every day. It’s a hemorrhagic illness that responds to nothing. While looking for a possible source of the first infection, she stumbles on an encampment/prison with all the soldiers dead, and Jean-Luc looking near dead. She immediately returns with him to the hospital, knowing his chances of survival are slim to none. Watching him weaken day by day is breaking her heart--he can’t die! She makes a decision that will have a huge impact on her future and her research.

If you haven’t read any of the Hornet novels, you're missing a great romantic suspense series. This is the fifth installment but can be read as a stand alone. The first four are just as exciting. Danger, suspense, and romance are in every story.

5 STARS!
