Down Deep by Kimberly Kincaid
Publisher: Kimberly Kincaid Romance (June 18, 2018)
Series: Station Seventeen, 3
Genre: Romantic Suspense

Ian Gamble has a past he’d rather forget—which is exactly what he’s doing at The Crooked Angel Bar and Grill when the place catches fire. Between his active duty in the Marines and his experience as a firefighter, his instincts get him and hot, headstrong bar manager, Kennedy Matthews, to safety. But those same instincts kick into high gear when the fire is ruled an arson, and he discovers Kennedy’s got secrets of her own.

The only thing that matters more to Kennedy than her bar is her brother. When she finds out he’s in over his head with a dangerous arsonist, she’ll do anything to keep him safe—even if it means teaming up with Gamble, who’s too sharp-eyed and hard-bodied for his own good. With every step, their attraction flares hotter and the risks grow more dangerous. Can Gamble and Kennedy face their fears—and their secrets—to catch a terrifying enemy? Or will they go down in flames?

Pat's Review:

The latest in Ms. Kincaid’s Station Seventeen Series will keep you on edge from start to finish. It can be read as a standalone, but it’s a great reunion with previous characters from the firehouse and the police department working on a dangerous case involving an arsonist.

Ian Gamble, former Marine and an engine Lieutenant for Station Seventeen, is a bit of a loner, and on this particular day he wants to keep it that way. He is acknowledging a terrible event that happened seven years ago, and he gets very drunk every year on the anniversary. He is at the Crooked Angels Bar, a place frequented by police and firefighters. Kennedy Matthews, bar manager and bartender is intrigued by Ian’s unusual heavy drinking. She calls him the big broody lieutenant, but he seems exceptionally down tonight.

Kennedy is a very independent woman, who wants to be in control. She is covered in beautiful tattoos and lots of piercings. What happens at her bar the night Ian is there getting drunk sends their casual relationship into high gear. A fire breaks out in a dumpster behind the bar, and Ian drags her out and calls 911. The bar is not too badly damaged, but it turns out the fire is just a test for a madman arsonist, and her brother is inexplicably involved. What follows is a race to catch a psychopath before he burns down the city, not caring who dies.

The story is very sexy and action packed, and the ending totally surprised me! If you like firefighters, romance and action, you will love this story.

5 STARS!
