Reminder: Holiday Giveaway!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Did Santa bring you everything you wanted? Not to imply, by any means, that Christmas equals tons of gifts (something the rest of the world, including the media does believe); but it is always nice to receive a few things, and they don't have to be big or expensive to be meaningful, right? :D

Well, here's your last chance to win your own copy of Christine Feehan's Oceans of Fire! The Holiday Giveaway for it ends this Saturday, Dec 31st, so if you haven't already entered, head on over to the post HERE and enter now!

Oh, and if you have any questions about how to enter (I know my instructions were not the clearest originally, though I have edited them since then), please send me an email and I will help to clear up any concerns right away. Good luck to everyone!

If you aren't interested in reading this book, or you already have a copy, that's fine. But perhaps you can still do me a favor and help to spread the word to others that you think might be interested? Sharing is caring, as they say, and I think this applies double when it concerns a giveaway for free books! :D

Enjoy!

Heads Up-- A Better Way to Find Giveaways!

I just came acrossed a (new to me) website that allows you to search hundreds of blogs for on-going giveaways-- from books to jewlery and almost anything in between. This amazing site is called Giveaway Scout, and I think you guys will love it!

You can even submit your own blog to be added to the list-- fill out a simple form, and if it's accepted, the site will check your blog every so often for giveaways you may be hosting and list them on the site for free. Or, after your blog has been added to the site, you can manually add the giveaway information yourself!

Needless to say, I'm signing up, and I'll probably be looking on it often for more book giveaways-- after all, not all of us have the time to search every blog out there for the current contests, and this way you can find it all in one spot. Sounds like my kind of website!

Oh, and don't forgot to enter my contest for a copy of The Eternal Ones! The contest ends August 29th, so hurry up and enter! For full details on the rules, the book, and how to enter, click HERE!

Until Next Time!

Enjoy,

Heads Up: Check Out This New Blog-- and Contest!

I simply had to share this with you: I've came across a new blog, by one of my favorite authors, Zoe Marriott. She's only just started it, but she plans on updating regularly, with posts about writing tips, her upcoming books, et cetera. In other words, it sounds like not only will Zoe have some great advice for us readers-turned-aspiring-authors, but a bit of fun as well!

Daughter of the FlamesRemember my rave reviews for both of Zoe's YA fantasy books last year? Daughter of the Flames (review) and The Swan Kingdom (review)? Well, Zoe has mentioned that she plans on giving away a copy of one of her books, along with other fabulous prizes, to a follower of her new blog!

The Swan KingdomThat's right-- you could have your own copy of one of these amazing books, perhaps even signed? (I don't think the books themselves will be signed, but she is giving out some bookplates and I do know you can get signed bookplates from her, visit her website HERE for more information on that!)

Now, she hasn't put up all the information about the contest details yet, but all the more reason to head on over early and check out her posts, enjoy yourself, The contest starts TOMORROW, Saturday June 25th, though I'm not sure how long it will run. However, by the end of it, who knows--- you could be the winner! :D

Oh, and I also found out that the sequel to Daughter of the Flames, titled Shadows on the Moon, is set to come out July of next year-- I can't wait! Come on, even if YA isn't your normal genre of choice, I think all of you would enjoy Zoe's books! Head on over to her blog and watch for her upcoming contest and perhaps you may be lucky enough to win a free copy from the author herself! You can thank me later when you find yourself adding these books to your 'Favorites' pile. :D

So remember, head over tomorrow for the contest details, post to comment/enter on, and other fun things to do!

HERE is the link to her blog home page.   (NOT the actual contest)

Until Next Time,

Contest Alert--- And a Sexy Cover!

Heads up-- you could be one of two lucky winners of an ARC for Juliana Stone's upcoming release, His Darkest Hunger!
All you have to do is head on over to her blog AND/OR The Bradford Bunch Blog to enter! She's also giving out some copy flats to random winners too, so be sure to head on over to both blogs for more chances to win!

Blurb:
Jaxon Castille: jaguar shifter, warrior, assassin. He has long hungered for the chance to make his former lover, Libby Jamieson, pay for her deadly betrayal. After three long years he’s finally found her. The hunt is over…

But the Libby that he finds is not what he expected. She has no memory of their tumultuous affair; of her treachery; of anything beyond her own name. A shadowy and deadly clan has marked them both for death, and in an instant the game changes: the hunter has become the hunted.

On the run, with the ghosts of their past between them and a dark, desperate hunger quickly reclaiming their bodies and souls, Libby and Jaxon must discover the truth behind the dark forces working against them. Together, they must grab hold of a destiny that has the power to either heal them or destroy them.

~~~~
His Darkest Hunger isn't available until March, but I'd kill to get my hands on a copy now-- look at that cover! It's amazing, very eye catching. And then, as a cherry on top, the summary sounds like we're going to be in for one sexy, wild ride for this series! :D
Enjoy!
Waiting on Wednesday AND a Contest for the Book!
Hey everyone-- yep, it's Wednesday again, which means it's time to choose a book that I can't wait to read when it comes out.
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, originally started at Breaking the Spine bookblog, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. I usually like to list a few reasons why this book made the top of my 'wish list', but it's purely up to you!
This week, I'm doing something a bit different. I was checking out my fellow blogger's posts, when I came across a contest link on Paradoxical's for an ARC of an upcoming YA novel, Magic Under Glass. Now, I've never heard of this book before (possibly since it doesn't come out for so long, December!), but that didn't stop me from reading the summary and instantly adding it to my wishlist! :D
So, besides posting the contest link below, I'm also going to have this book be my WoW for this week! (The contest link for extra entries, I'll admit, but also to help spread the word since I know how hard it is sometimes to get contest information out there. Hint, see my own contest here...) So, here's some information on the book first:
Title: Magic Under Glass Author: Jackie Dolamore
Genre: YA, Fantasy, Magic
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA
Publication Date: December 22, 2009
Summary (Author's blog/website):
Coming 12/22/09 from Bloomsbury...
Nimira is a music-hall girl used to dancing for pennies. So when wealthy sorcerer Hollin Parry hires her to sing accompaniment to a mysterious piano-playing automaton, Nimira believes it will be the start of a better life. In Parry's world, long-buried secrets are about to stir. Unsettling rumors begin to swirl about ghosts, a madwoman roaming the halls, and Parry’s involvement in a group of corrupt sorcerers for whom the rules of the living and dead are meant to be broken for greater power. When Nimira discovers the spirit of a dashing fairy gentleman is trapped within the automaton, she is determined to break the curse. But even as the two fall into a love that seems hopeless, breaking the curse becomes a perilous race against time. Because it's not just the future of these star-crossed lovers that's at stake, but the fate of the entire magical world.
Want to win an ARC with original sketches from the author inside? See http://fabulousfrock.livejournal.com/ for details! Head on over today to have your name entered into the contest! And be sure to look for Jackie's book in stores every where this December! I know I will. :D ENJOY! Until Next Time, The Book Queen
LORELEI JAMES CONTEST!
The lovely booklover1335, aka Carrie from Seductive Musings has done an interview and contest for Lorelei James (also writes under Lori Armstrong!) The contest begins today, and ends SATURDAY, JULY 4TH, so be sure to get over there ASAP and enter! Here's what the prize is: 2 e-books (One will be of her new release, Miss Firecracker, the other from her back list) There are many ways to gain entries, check out the blog post for more details, but here are some examples: ~Commenting on the entry post telling her which book you want ~Reading the review on the book (a separate post) and commenting there ~Spreading the word ~Being a follower And some are worth major entries points from some of them, so your chances could be better than you'd think! In case you are not familiar with Lorelei James (I'll admit I've never read her work, so she's a new-to-me author as well), here's a little bit of information about her, a teaser if you will (in her own words, thanks to Carrie):
A bit about me: When I'm not squirreled away behind my laptop writing fun, sexy, contemporary erotic romances set in the modern day Wild West, I can be found reading everything under the sun, practicing yoga until I’m a pretzel, shootin' my .22, watching the Professional Bull Riders tour on Versus, and running a kid's taxi service, all in the guise of avoiding housework and rustlin' up vittles.
Why do I have a particular fondness for all things western? Well, I'm a fourth generation South Dakotan, living in the Black Hills, which is chock-full of interesting characters, including cowboys, Indians, ranchers, and bikers. The geographical diversity of the surrounding area showcases mountains, plains, and badlands. Living in and writing about rural settings gives me a unique perspective, especially since I'm not writing historical westerns. Through my fictional world, I can show the ideals and the cowboy way of life are still very much alive.
Mystery Series:
I also write a dark, gritty mystery series under another name. Check it out: www.loriarmstrong.com
Why does the contest end so quickly, you may be asking? She's promoting her newest release, Miss Firecracker, which came out yesterday from Samhain publishing. This is, apparently, the second book in her series titled, The Wild West Boys.
Here's the back blurb for Miss Firecracker:
...She’s the match, he’s the fuse...an explosive combination
One year ago Willow Gregory entered the Miss Firecracker contest on a dare—and ended up with the crown. As a working carpenter, she’s not exactly the tears-and-tiara type, and after a year of walking the straight and narrow she’s ready to cut loose.
Waking up in a sexy stranger’s bed with no memory of the havoc she wreaked the night before wasn’t quite what she had in mind. Nor was agreeing to his mandate—work for him at the tavern until she repays the damage. Or go to jail.
Blake West thinks he could possibly be the only man alive who could say no to a drunken, horny, naked beauty queen. There’s something about the former Miss Firecracker that makes him want to blow his Mr. Nice Guy persona all to hell.
It helps that Willow is ready to dive headfirst into a no-heartstrings-attached affair. Which fits in perfectly with Blake’s temporary gig managing his friend’s bar.
Every grinding kiss, every stolen touch leads to another…until a harmless little white lie becomes the detonator that could explode their chances at a happily ever after.
Warning: this light-hearted beach read features a hero hotter than the 4th of July and a feisty heroine who knows exactly how to pop his top.
So be sure to head over today and enter-- I may not be familiar with James' novels, but they sound good, so they're definitely going onto my list!
Anyone can enter, as long as you leave an email address for the book to be sent to (Remember, they are E-BOOKS!)
And even if you don't wish to enter-- well, head over anyway! Carrie's got a great blog, I'm sure you'll find other things to do! ;)
Click HERE to enter! Good luck, and be sure to spread the word. ;)
What Did I Receive/Upcoming Giveaway
I know, I know, I'm a bit behind. But better late than never, right? Here's the two books I received. One came last Friday, the other one came Monday, but I thought I'd just lump the two together. Oh, and if you clicked on this post because of the other title 'Upcoming Giveaway', well, I'll explain more about that after the books. :D Book One
Title: Highland Obsession Author: Dawn Halliday Release Date: August 4th, 2009 Publisher: Penguin Group Summary (B&N):
In the Scottish Highlands, two warriors are about to clash over a woman of passion... They were the unlikeliest of friends debauching their way through London: The Earl of Camdonn, a nobleman of vast wealth and power, and Scottish laird Alan MacDonald, a respected Jacobite with ambitions of his own. But their friendship is destroyed when Alan marries the beautiful Sorcha Stewart—only to witness Cam kidnap her from their bedroom. Then Alan learns the truth: his bride was not an innocent. She took a lover before him—his friend—who taught her the ways of pleasure. Now, Alan will do anything to get his wife back. Cam fights to redeem his honor, even as he refuses to give up his desire. Torn between love and duty, Sorcha must watch as the two men she desires go to war over her. And when the battle lines are drawn, all three lovers are lured into a triangle of forbidden passions... Highland Obsession was sent to me by the wonderful author herself, Dawn (alias, Jennifer Haymore). I'm very grateful that she did, because I loved it! I won't have the review up for a bit, and I'll explain why towards the end of the post. ;)
Book Two
Title: Blood Bayou Author: Karen Young Release Date: May 2009 Publisher: Simon & Schuster Summary (B&N):
To Save a Victim, Camille St. James May Have to Become One Herself.
Seven years ago, tragedy ended the troubled marriage of Camille and Jack Vermillion. Now, as head of the Truth Project, her life safe and orderly, she focuses her lawyerly skills on freeing wrongly incarcerated individuals on death row.
Jack paid a bitter price for his mistakes. No longer a high-powered corporate attorney, he's now pastor of a small church in Blood Bayou. Unsure of her own beliefs, Camille is highly skeptical of the conversion of this man she hasn't seen in seven years.
Then tragedy strikes again. Jack's sister is murdered, apparently by a prisoner Camille has set free. To prove his innocence, Camille must return to Blood Bayou. But that means facing the hostility of the town — and Jack.
And as She Works to Find the Real Killer, Someone Is Determined to Stop Her...by Any Means.
Blood Bayou was the book I received from LibraryThing's ER program for the month of April. I'm still reading this one, but so far it's not too bad. I hope to have my review up by the end of this week, but I can't make any promises....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, and finally, for the exciting news....(drum roll, please!)
During the weekend of June 4-6 (Yes, of this year!) I will have a special guest stopping by (when she has time, of course), along with an in depth interview with said person, and a giveaway as well!
And in case you haven't figured out who this mysterious person is, it's none other than Mrs. Halliday herself! Dawn Halliday is the pen names she has recently started writing under, but perhaps you recognize her as Jennifer Haymore.
Either way, I've got an interview set up with her, which I will post that first day, June 4, and on the same day, I will post my review for her upcoming release, Highland Obsession. And Jennifer has been kind enough to offer up a prize or two for you to win that weekend. I'll have more details on the actual Interview/contest post in June, but the prize will be an ARC of the book in question, Highland Obsession, which she is willing to ship anywhere (not just in the United States, ladies).
Interested? I hope so! I'm very excited, and I hope that I can pull this off. It's a lot to do all at once, trying my hand at holding a contest AND interviewing the author, but I'm going to try my best.
For more details, keep checking back. And if you want to have your named entered into the contest, make sure to mark your calendars for June 4th, when the contest opens. You will have most of the weekend, until Saturday night at midnight to enter.
Since I'm going to be heading out of town that Sunday night until Thursday, I may not have the winners picked and posted until Thursday, but if I can find a reliable Internet source while I'm gone, I will post sooner. Please, bare with me! If you are picked as a winner, you will have a week in which to contact me with your information (so I can send it on to Jennifer), and if I don't hear from you by the end of the seventh day, I'll put the names back in and draw again.
It's going to be your usual chances for gaining entries:
~One entry for leaving a comment on the post.
~One entry for joining the 'Follow My Blog' list
~Two entries for those of you who are already following me
~Two entries for posting about the contest on your blog,website, etc.
Pretty simple, nothing too challenging, I'm sure, and in return, you may just have this sexy (and very, very erotic!) highland romance on your doorstep!
I hope that everyone stops by, even if it's only to learn more about this relatively new author. Believe me, I know quite a few of you who, if you don't already have her books on your list, will be very anxious to read her novels. She's an amazing romance author, and I can't wait to read more of her work, both under Jennifer and Dawn Halliday.
Until then, I hope everyone has a good week!

Shiloh Walker-- BLOG ALL ABOUT IT! contest

Coming November 2008
A sinfully sexy novel of romantic suspense about a woman whose psychic gift drives away the man she loves—and years later draws him back to her…
LOVE LOST
As a teenager, Taige Branch was able to do things with her psychic gift that others couldn’t understand—except for Cullen Morgan, the boy her stole her heart. He did his best to accept her abilities, until his mother was brutally murdered—and he couldn’t forgive Taige for not preventing her death.
PASSION FOUND
Now a widowed father, Cullen Morgan has never forgotten Taige. But what brings her back into his life is another tragic event. His beloved little girl has been kidnapped, and Taige is his only hope of finding her.
A LOVE THAT NEVER DIED
Working together against the clock, Cullen and Taige can’t help but wonder whether—if they find his daughter in time—it isn’t too late for the overpowering love that still burns between them…
Excerpt
The weird sense of deja vu exploded into something else entirely. Something that shook her to the core. His eyes narrowed and he reached up, caught her chin in his, staring at her.
She was pale and Cullen thought she looked every bit as shaken as he felt. “The dreams,” he muttered. He caught her face in his hands and forced her to look at him, staring into her pale gray eyes. The ugly, dark bruise around her left eye made her iris seem that much paler and as he watched, the pupil flared, enlarging until just a sliver of gray of visible.
Taige tried to jerk away and he wouldn’t let her. “You had the dreams, too, didn’t you?” he demanded.
Her voice shook as she reached up with one hand to jerk on his wrist, trying to break his hold. “Let go of me.”
Slowly, he shook his head. “You have,” he whispered, dismay spreading through him. Dismay–and something else. She’d always held herself apart from him in those dreams. But through those dreams, he’d gotten to know her, gotten to know the woman she had become. She was pulling away from him not because she was angry at him, or because she didn’t want anything to do with him.
She pulled back because she still loved him.

"Taken by Storm" , "Prey", and a Contest!

Okay, sorry that I do not have the time to write a full review for the two books I finished today, but I figured I'd at least post them and how many stars they get. I may come back at a later day to write a review for them, but if not...Well, you're just have to trust my rating, won't you? I read Taken by Storm by Donna Fletcher. Great historical romance, set in Scotland. It's filled with adventure and passion, love and laughs. 4.5/5 STARS! The other one was a teen fiction novel by one of my favorite authors, Lurlen McDaniel, Prey. It was different from what she's written before, and the story line (A female teacher seducing a 15 year old male student, they get it on and 'fall in love' with each other, or so they say) was just.. wrong. However, she wrote it nicely, like always, and I will admit that the story line, though nasty, is very true more often than we'd like to admit.... 4/5 STARS! One more thing before I go. There is a contest going on for 50 copies of Joy Nash’s Immortals: The Crossing. The series is amazing, written by more than just one author, and I'm excited to see what Joy Nash's book, the next in the series, will be like-- probably just as amazing as the others, I'm sure.
